Best Day EVER!!!!

What a great time we had with Mimi and Papa on our Spring Break.  Our trip and overnight stay at Disneyland was absolutely fantastic.  The kids were just a tad excited when we got to the hotel.  We checked in and headed to the parks.  It was a perfect day.  With the threat of rain and cloudy, cool weather, the crowds were minimal.  The longest wait we had was about 45 minutes to ride the Cars land Radiator Springs Racers (which was worth ever minute). For most rides we either walked right up and got on or waited about 10 minutes.  It was perfection.

Hayley and Hannah knocking on the door looking for the White Rabbit at the Alice in Wonderland ride.

When we entered California Adventure, the Newsies were performing with Mickey!!!

Radiator Springs Racers.  The ride was awesome and the town looks just like Radiator Springs from Cars.  We loved it.

This is Hayley's "I'm not so sure about this!" face.

We walked up on the Phineas and Ferb Dance Party!  Fun.

The next morning we had breakfast at Goofy's Kitchen with some of our favorite characters.

Hannah's face here is pretty acurrate on how she was feeling!!!

Breakfast of champions.  Cupcake and a cinnamon roll.

And gummy worms of course!

To say we had a good time is an understatement!!  We made some wonderful memories and enjoyed our time with Mimi and Papa so very much.  Can't wait until next time...

Soccer Season #5

Soccer seems to be the sport Luke always goes back to playing.  He has played flag football, t-ball, basketball, and soccer.  Soccer is his favorite.  I think it is all the running.  This boy loves to run.
We are really pleased with his coaches this season.  They are very good with the team and instruct the kids on how soccer is really played.  Luke is learning so much about the game.  He usually plays left defender although he has played forward a couple of times too.
Luke loves the fact that they chose the team name that he suggested, the Blue Jays!!
So far they are 2-1 in the season. We are off to a great start!!

Warming up before the game.

Cooling off and listening to Coach after the game.

Ready to stop the ball

My Gymnasts

Both Hayley and Hannah are taking gymnastics this spring.  Hayley has been taking since last August and loves it!  Most of the time Hayely travels by way of a cartwheel.  I have even found her doing cartwheels in the store!!  (When I was her age, I got lost at JcPennys for doing cartwheels and then I could not find where my Mom had gone).  She gets it honest!

Hannah has been asking to take gymnastics for a few months.  A class for her age group meets the same time that her big sister is taking so we decided to sign her up.  So far she has been enjoying herself.  Lots of jumping, rolling, and playing which is right up HB's alley.

Read Across America!

I love when I am able to incorporate some of my favorite activities that I did as a classroom teacher into our home school days.  We got together with friends this year and celebrated Dr. Seuss's birthday with a Read Across America celebration.

We began our day with a reading of "Green Eggs and Ham" and of course had to try some of our own.  I think almost all of the kiddos tried them and liked them.  We may have had one or two opt out of the green eggs.  Ha!  I can't say I blame them.  They do look weird.

Playing a rhyming word rely game

Shared reading with friends

My favorite part of the day was our Reader's Theatre.  Everyone had a part and dressed up as their character.  Each reader made their own costume.  They were all so creative!!  Here are our narrators (The Cat in the Hat)

Thing 1 and Thing 2

The Lorax

The Grinch

Somehow I didn't get a picture of Mr. Brown and the Fish in a Dish.  They were just as fantastic as all of our other readers.

Finally we ended the day with making our own book marks

I think everyone had a great time celebrating reading and the wonderful Dr. Seuss.
